Happy Friday!
Last night, I had dinner with close friends at a favorite Chinese restaurant, Legend. My fortune was “Winning starts with beginning.” Coincidentally, I have lived by those words for years, but it was nice to have confirmation from an outside source.
Naturally suspicious, I decided to research who makes fortune cookies, and I discovered that there’s a company in Brooklyn called Wonton Food, Inc. Interestingly, the Chief Financial Officer(CFO) writes the messages; philosophy, wisdom, and financial acumen can mix! While there are currently 15,000 fortunes in the database, they are open to receiving work from freelance writers, so if you’re interested, contact them.
I suggest that you write down the phrase on the fortune cookie and post it where you can see it often. Whenever I falter and start doubting myself, I glance at the fortune, which is pasted to my computer. I immediately cheer up and get back to work.
For more on this concept, I recommend Neil Fiore’s book, “The Now Habit.” His work details a wonderful method to continually keep yourself in a focused ‘starting’ state of mind. The amount of work you complete when focusing on starting rather than finishing is incredible!
If you like these words, great, but if there is another message that inspires you to keep going while you’re working, turn that into a personal fortune cookie, tape it somewhere you can see it often. I would be delighted to hear how it works for you.
I’m excited for the next webinar! I reflected on our last meeting and how worry disrupts your peace and takes a serious toll on your body. Insomnia tops the list.
If worry has ever stolen your sleep, you’re not alone—and you’re not powerless. My assistant, Beth, agreed several weeks ago to tackle sleeplessness using the Beyond Happiness Method and I think you’ll find her results surprising.

The Night I Stopped Trying to Solve Problems
by Beth Price
I never had trouble falling asleep — my head would hit the pillow, and I’d drift off within minutes. Staying asleep, though? That was a different story. Night after night, I’d find myself wide awake at 2 am or 3 am, brain buzzing with random thoughts, songs from the 80s, and worry. It wasn’t one big thing keeping me awake — a thousand little thoughts refused to settle.
When I started using the Beyond Happiness Method before bed, I thought I had it all figured out. I picked a problem from the day — something that upset me, worried me, or a task with a looming deadline — and journaled about it, hoping to “process” it out of my system.
Spoiler alert: it didn’t help. It made everything worse.[READ MORE]
