No Time to Write? Let’s Fix That

Spotlight on Our Creative Community

One of the best parts of our weekly webinars is seeing how many different kinds of writers show up—people with full-time jobs, families, businesses, and busy lives who still make space to write. This week, I’m highlighting two writers whose work fits perfectly with the themes we explore through the Beyond Happiness Method and the Word of the Day.

First, I want to recognize Sarah Ward, creator of the YouTube channel Sarah Classic Sewing. Alongside running a successful sewing business and raising a family, Sarah took the time to record a thoughtful, down-to-earth review of Bad Girl Pie. She has also written a book of life lessons for her children—proof that writing doesn’t require perfect circumstances, just commitment and heart. Her example is a reminder that many of us are juggling multiple responsibilities while trying to stay connected to our creative work. I’m sure you’ll enjoy her video here, and be sure to check out her YouTube channel and website.

A Little Spice in the Checkout Line

I also want to share a poem from longtime webinar attendee Robert Lecky, a pilot who brings humor and honesty to every session. His poem, in just a few lines, pulls us into a romantic scene that ends quite differently, and hilariously, than the reader expects. Robert’s piece shows us that the inspiration for meaningful, fun, and creative writing often comes from unlikely places.

Left, Right
Up, Down
Desire hoping at every turn
Not hunting for Breakfast , Lunch, and Dinner
Will I survive this envious explosion of Light, Love, and Life?
Every meal needs an answer only my soul can give.
Yes! I grab for it and pull her closer
I was last, but now I am first as I look into her eyes
I’ve made it through my Whole Foods checkout
Pockets depleted
My soul fulfilled
Clutching my naughty new copy of Bad Girl Pie.

No matter your background or schedule, writing can happen. I hope that Sarah and Robert’s work and writing inspire you to join us for the next Overcome Writing Challenges webinar—now on Tuesdays—as we continue building a welcoming, safe space for writers at every level.

Beth’s New Book

I’m not usually one to talk about myself, but Marilyn insisted I share news of my new book. “If I am not for myself, who will be?” she reminded me. So here it is: my very first book, released this past week.

Secrets of Capell Manor started the way many stories do—just a spark of an idea that I carried around for three years before I ever wrote a single sentence. I finally began drafting during the pandemic, and after many long days (and nights) of writing amidst other tasks and projects, I completed the manuscript in 2024. I sent it out to a handful of publishers, and to my surprise, a small independent press offered to publish it.

Marilyn’s Word of the Day technique played a huge role in helping me stick with this project and see it through to the end. I also want to give a shout-out to the writers who attend the webinars. Their shared experiences and wisdom encouraged me more than they know.

The book, set in 1630s England, blends romance and mystery with characters who are flawed, funny, loyal, and very relatable. I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to share this story with you—but if you’re looking for a quick, cozy, weekend read, check it out.

Tools for Real-Life Writers

Most writers aren’t creating in a bubble—we’re balancing day jobs, relationships, and the rest of real life while trying to carve out time and energy to write. If this sounds like you, then my new writing webinar series is just what you need. Overcome Writing Challenges is designed for writers at every level, from brand-new beginners to seasoned professionals.

In our next session, we’ll use the Beyond Happiness Method and the Word of the Day Clustering/Three-Minute Writing to explore practical strategies for staying grounded, managing your creative time, and easing the emotional pressures that make writing harder than it needs to be.

You’ll get simple guided exercises, helpful insights, and real conversations with other writers who are navigating the same juggling act and trying to maintain creative momentum.

Whether you’re struggling with writer’s block, perfectionism, low confidence, or just finding space to write amid everything else, this workshop will meet you right where you are.

We’d love for you to join us—now on Tuesdays!
Next session: November 18.
