Happy Friday!
I hope you’re savoring these last sweet days of summer—maybe sneaking in a quick getaway or making plans for Labor Day. While our bi-weekly webinars are taking a short break until September 10, I couldn’t wait to share a story from one of our regular webinar participants.
Webinar Results
If you’ve attended my webinar before, you know that every session begins with gentle somatic movements, deep breathing, and the Self-Acknowledgment Hug. This simple yet powerful start creates a safe, calm space where stress melts away and the mind opens to new ways of thinking. From there, we move into the Word-of-the-Day Clustering and our Three-Minute Writing practice, and that’s when the magic happens—ideas spark, solutions surface, and creativity flows. And the beauty is, it’s not just for writers. People from all walks of life use this method to find clarity, inspiration, and even problem-solving breakthroughs.
Week after week, our participants create short stories, poems, essays, and reflections that are heartfelt, authentic, and full of life. I’ve posted many of these gems on my Guest Blog.
Today, I’m sharing a lighthearted story from Susan, one of our most dedicated webinar attendees. You can also check out her website and see other stories and art she’s created.
Kitchen Mishap

Norbert was intent on creating a magical dining experience for his wife Elise. Elise was still at work and she expected to come home and throw something together for them, but Norbert had the day off and recently watched an episode of ‘Yan Can Cook” where he made Egg Foo Yung, Spring Rolls, and Vegetable Lo Mien. It’s Nice to Be Number One!

Bad Girl Pie continues to rank in the top 1% of the Cooking Humor category on Amazon (woohoo!) and has kept a strong presence in the Dark Humor and Jewish Fiction categories as well. And while I am overjoyed with these rankings so far, I believe it’s Dot’s story as a testament to resilience that’s surprising and then inspiring readers.
The Power of Resilience
Dot faces numerous setbacks, from discovering her father’s betrayal to being deceived by Suzanne, who steals her book. When Dorothy takes a near-lethal dose of Oxycontin, her survival and the humor she finds in her paradoxical situation mark a turning point. It’s a powerful reminder that even in our darkest moments, there is hope. Dorothy’s ability to pull herself together and seek a new direction in life is something that will resonate with anyone who has faced adversity.

Move From Chaos to Calm
From Susan’s humorous short story to Dorothy’s gritty resilience in Bad Girl Pie, one thing is clear—when you step into a space that calms the mind and creates a safe place for creativity, you’ll get surprising results.
Please make plans to attend the next webinar, scheduled for September 10. Whether you’re looking to boost your creativity for your next project or need to improve your golf game, the methods shared in the webinar will help. Come ready to write and discover what’s possible.
And if you haven’t yet, treat yourself to a copy of Bad Girl Pie and enjoy some laughs, tango, and a side of inspiration!

Here’s to your personal success,
Professor Marilyn Horowitz
